Our Dowsers
Will Barber
Will “Sonny” Barber grew up in Lockhart, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas with highest honors and was a proud third generation Longhorn, a tradition which has continued for subsequent generations. Will attended Harvard Law School for his law degree. He practiced law his entire life and became a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Will’s law career was illustrious and remarkable, but his real commitment was always to his family. Will married Patricia Wallum and they had four children: Mary Beth, Bill, Jack, and Katy. They built a second home overlooking the Castles in Gunnison Colorado which has become a sacred family space and a lasting legacy for their family.

Over my lifetime, I have come to understand, know, and believe in spiritual energy. Science teaches us that everything in our universe is energy including ourselves. That energy is neither created nor destroyed, it merely changes form. So, then, it must be true that our spiritual energies never die, we merely change form and abide.
Through spiritual dowsing, I initially conceived that we are like antennas connecting to a spiritual plane. That we could tap into spiritual energy, connect with it, and commune with it. Over time, I have come to understand that this spiritual plane isn’t somewhere else. Rather, that spiritual energy is all around us. We are swimming in a sea of that energy. In fact, we are part of that energy, as we are energy itself. It is only because of our physical limitations that we perceive ourselves as something separate.
My conviction is that this is all in fact true. Like life itself which recreates from each birth to death, life moves forward. So, too, do our spiritual energies. We live; we die; we recreate. And, we move each other forward. Thus, our spiritual energies, including those of our loved ones, are intertwined as we move forward.
For what it is worth, I find that my take on spiritual energy is harmonic with the great world religions. Christ’s spiritual energy abides in us, connecting us with God/the All of All/Spirit of the Universe. So, too, does the spiritual energy of our loved ones abide in us, intertwined with our own spiritual energy. Not metaphorically, but in actuality, we are one with each other and the Spirit of the Universe. As my spiritual mentor John Shields said, “We are the Spirit of the Universe coming to know itself.”
